"The Gentle Healing Luminescence of God":
Bead Blessings from the Sufism Module

Editor's Note:  At the end of each module in ChI's Interfaith Ordination program, we end with a Bead Ceremony. Students offer blessings to one another, together with a bead that symbolizes something about the faith tradition being studied during that module.

The following "Bead Blessings" were offered by students to one another, at the end of the May 2008 Sufism module.

May your heart unfurl its wings, like a new green blossoming bud of spring.

May the Love of God
unfold like a flower
in your heart.

A clay heart, opening up to healing love:
  “O, break my heart
  O, break it again
  So I can learn
To love even more again.”  (Rumi)

Sufiism is unknowable, as God is unknowable. May your heart know the Unknowable Ocean that is God.

Remember: “The Sufi is the one who is not.” (Carl Ernst)

May you swim in the ocean of Divine Bliss.

Green is a holy color in Islam.
Khidr
, “the Green one,” brings freshness and liveliness,
  drawn from life's living Springs.
Yhavy
means 'Life'.
Hayul Qayyum means 'Life Everlasting'.
The line of green leaves shows the place
where water flows through the shattered rock beneath.

May we all find jewels
in the lush mountains of our ecstasy
and in the parched deserts of our darkness.

Bright, yet transparent with many facets, all part of the whole. May we embody that expansive acceptance we have practiced here, as we go forth into the world.

I give to you a spinning top of lavender, sparkling intuition—
May it turn to places you’ve yet to imagine.
Love, joy, and many divine surprises to you all!

God Equation:
  Infinity = 1
  Within and without
We are ONE!

May each one of you who feels suffering and pain in your life
   (as I have)
find the gentle healing luminescence of God.

“Draw us closer to Thee
 Every moment of our life
 Until in us be reflected
    Thy Grace
    Thy Glory
    Thy Wisdom
    Thy Joy
    and Thy Peace.”

(Sufi Hazrat Inayat Khan)

May the Divine unlock the poetry of your heart.
May you open to the Wonder that you are.

May the surface of your sapphire heart shimmer with the Divine Light that dances upon it.

May we all stay awake to the transformation of heart connection.

As you look at this bead,
may you see it as a lantern
that shines from your tiny boat.

May the Beloved
kindle your Inner Flame
and strike up a dance with you ...
now and forever!
