Rev. Scott Railsback

Rev. Scott Railsback currently serves as Palliative Care chaplain at Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek California.  In this role Scott serves on a team of physicians, nurses, and social workers consulting with patients and families facing advanced, often life limiting illness, to assist them in aligning their goals and values with their medical treatment plan.  Prior to Palliative Care chapliancy, Scott completed 4 units of CPE and served nearly three years as hospital chaplain intern at Kaiser Hospital.  Scott is currently completing an MA in East-West Psychology at California Institute of Integral Studies and is also a Special Student at Pacific School of Religion where his study is focused on pastoral care.  As a Palliative Care chaplain Scott embodies professional chaplaincy as an integral part of a clinical practice that continue an ancient interfaith tradition; that serving the suffering is sacred work and that hospitals, surrounded by the miracle of birth and the mystery of death, are sanctuary and sacred ground.  Beyond serving as a chaplain, Scott reflects his spiritual inspiration as a family member, poet and musician.  In line with his involvement in the spirit of music Scott has served as a staff member of Sound Movement Integration Center – Institute for Indigenous Studies and is an ensemble member in several improvisational music groups.
