A Prayer For Those Who Minister

Newsletter Issue:
March 2010

O Compassionate One, Dear Spirit, Giver of Life and Sustainer of All:

We come to you this day
  our knees buckled
the weight of the world burdening our shoulders
  our eyes filled with grief
  our spirits weary
  our hearts cracked open.

You have created
  mind, body and soul
  to witness hunger
    hatred
    violence
    oppression
    disease.

It is not up to us to ask why,
  what for,
  how come...

These questions are irrelevant—
  unnecessary distractions to our task.

You have created eyes to see,
  ears to hear,
  hearts to care
  and hands to serve.

We ask forgiveness for all of the ways we fail
to see, to hear, to care, to serve
  the hungry,
  the hated,
  the hurting.

Today we commit
  our whole selves
  to Your Service.

We ask for
  Strength
    Resolve
        and Trust
that the prayers of our heart
and the actions of our body
  will not be in vain.

Amen, Blessed Be, Aho
