Interfaith Spiritual Care Certificate Program

The Center for Anglican Learning & Leadership (CALL) at Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) is joining with the Chaplaincy Institute for Arts and Interfaith Ministries (ChI) to present a new continuing education program for clergy, chaplains, therapists, social workers, healthcare, hospice and helping professionals, and all who seek deeper understanding of the many spiritual paths to healing.

Initial Retreat: Friday - Sunday, Nov. 14 - 16, 2008
Berkeley, California

The Interfaith Spiritual Care Certificate is designed for therapists, health care professionals, spiritual directors, chaplains, life coaches, religious professionals, business consultants, teachers and interested students.

The program's format includes two long weekend retreats, from Friday morning through Sunday afternoon, including one evening event each weekend. The training gives students an in-depth, holistic Interfaith model, useful personally as well as for work with individuals, couples, families and organizations. Students will gain insight and tools to help them become more conscious and compassionate human beings and caregivers, in their spheres of work and life.

The Program seeks to deepen competencies for serving individuals, families and communities, across faith and cultural divides. Each of the courses includes all three of the following elements:

    * Skill-building: Interfaith core competencies and spiritual care skills
    * Spiritual practices for returning to the Source
    * Self-care skills and building a community of support

This new Interfaith Spiritual Care Certificate Program is designed to give students additional insight into the Interfaith landscape of the communities they serve. The program will provide valuable resources for engaging with people of all religions and traditions, as well as tools for self-care, expressions of spirit, and renewal of our call to service. Visual arts, music, and dreamwork are an integral part of the Interfaith curriculum.

Housing: Housing is available in Easton Hall at Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) on a first-come, first-served basis (see http://www.cdsp.edu/conference.php).

Between the two in-person weekend gatherings, the program continues with homework, spiritual practice, and two hours of individual faculty mentoring.

Continuing Education Units: Fifty continuing education contact hours (five CEUs) will be granted jointly by CALL and ChI for successful completion of this program. Two CEUs will be granted for participation in one of the two weekend sessions. CEUs are for clergy and chaplains.

Fees

Full Certificate Program: $950 (5 CEUs / 50 contact hours)
