Rev. Peggy Sharyon

Petaluma, CA

Officiating at my brother’s wedding in July of 2009 sparked the light that illuminated the path that opened the door to ministry!!  My role in that magical, interfaith wedding has inspired me to further explore my gifts and my spirituality.

I am the mother of four, amazing young people (Sam, Robert, Patrick and Henry) and I’ve been married to a big-hearted fellow (Leon) for 25 years.  My family has been my world and I have loved caring for each and every one of them!  Blessed be!  However, they are growing up and moving on and I am adapting my mothering to ministering!

My studies at The Chaplaincy Institute have included both the Ordination and the Spiritual Direction program.  I am currently serving as a Spiritual Director at San Quentin State Prison and at the Mary Isaac Homeless Center in Petaluma.  I am volunteering with the Bay Area IAF helping to develop relational power and capacity for action on immigration issues in the North Bay.  I am working with teens at St. Vincent De Paul Church and I continue to celebrate my Catholic faith in many heartfelt ways.

I hope to live and serve by the words of the Dalai Lama, “If you want to set out on a spiritual path, the most important provision is your love for others.”  Amen!
