Betsy was ordained by The Chaplaincy Institute in 2002. Previously, she lived, studied and worked at the Omega Institute in upstate New York, earned her MA in Culture and Spirituality from Holy Names University in Oakland, and graduated with a BA in Psychology from UC Berkeley in 1997.
Betsy comes to ChI’s Board with the skills, talents and background to help build our fundraising program. She has been working as a fundraiser for the last ten years, for such Bay Area organizations as Earthjustice, Bishop O’Dowd High School, UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco. She has benefited from many professional development opportunities along the way, earning a Certificate of Fund Raising Management from Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy.
Betsy's professional competencies in individual giving, volunteer management, program development & administration, event planning, database development, and in writing, editing & design make her a wonderful fit for the Fund Development Chair role at ChI. Her other recent volunteer leadership roles have included chairing the Dean’s Staff Advisory Council at the Haas School of Business; participating on the Advisory Council at UC San Francisco; and helping raise gifts from her classmates for their Cal 15th reunion.
